China's Mongolian Takshkent port built into the coal import channel

After more than three months of intense construction, a 6-kilometer coal import road in the Montakkishkent port was formally completed at the end of July. This passage will facilitate the import of coal and other mineral resources in China.

According to the Xinjiang Qinghe County Economic and Trade Commission, in April of this year, due to concerns that coal transport vehicles between the two countries would damage the current trade import and export channels, Mongolia proposed to build a 6-kilometer coal transportation roadway to facilitate the transportation of coal. After three and a half months of intense construction by China’s Hong Kong Mongolia Energy Co., Ltd., the passage was officially completed at the end of July.

Right now, China and Mongolia have great potential for cooperation in the economic and trade field. Each year, the coking coal gap in Xinjiang reaches 1.6 million tons, and the 15th coking coal used for steelmaking is even less. With raw coal, we can vigorously develop advantageous industries such as coal-to-oil, coal-fired power, coal chemical, and coal coking. In the first quarter of this year, the raw coal imports from the China-Portuguese-Kenkou Port reached 5,000 tons.

Mongolia has rich state-owned coal and iron ore resources, but its resources have not been transformed enough, and its ability to develop and process mineral products has been limited. In addition to the lack of civilian materials, 90% of the life supplies in the five western provinces of Mongolia have been imported from China's Takshken Port.

The Takshken Port is located in Takshiken Town, Qinghe County, Aletai, Xinjiang. Since the 13th century, this is an important channel for trade between the East and the West. With this passage, the business trips continuously transported goods such as silk and tea in the Central Plains to various parts of Central Asia and Europe, and brought goods from Europe and other places along the way to the Central Plains. They are known as the “Great Northern Road”.
