Energy Bureau: October electricity consumption increased by 11% year-on-year

In the first ten months, the second industry's electricity consumption accounted for 70% of the entire society's electricity consumption; industry sources said that the electricity shortage was caused by the loss of large-scale power companies.

According to the data released by the National Energy Administration on the 15th, the total social power consumption in October was 379.7 billion kWh, an increase of 11.35% year-on-year, slightly lower than the 12.2% increase in September. In the case of severe power consumption in winter, whether the continued rapid growth in electricity consumption will aggravate the tension has drawn attention.

Data show that in the first 10 months of this year, the total social power consumption was 385.1 billion kWh, an increase of 11.87% year-on-year. Among them, the second industry electricity consumption increased 12.16% year-on-year. Based on this calculation, the electricity consumption of the second industry accounted for 74.7% of the electricity consumption of the entire society in the first ten months, and the proportion was basically the same as that of the previous September. In this regard, Xiamen University Professor Lin Boqiang said that this shows that the current power growth is still strong, but the effect of economic restructuring is not good, the proportion of industrial electricity consumption for many years is still high.

It is worth noting that the current "electricity shortage" exists and the electricity consumption continues to grow. A senior electric power source said that the current domestic installed capacity exceeds 1 billion kilowatts. From this scale, China should not lack electricity. The most fundamental reason for the lack of electricity is due to the thermal power companies generating power losses, and the more the power generation, the more losses they suffer. Therefore, the maintenance of enterprises does not generate electricity. This is the real cause of the “electricity shortage”. If the losses increase, the demand will continue to rise, and electricity will be used. More nervous.

According to the data disclosed by the National Energy Administration, the cumulative average utilization of power generation equipment in the country for the first ten months was 3,971 hours, a year-on-year increase of 60 hours. In the power industry, the number of hours of use of power generation is an important criterion for judging whether the unit is operating normally. In this regard, Lin Boqiang believes that although the number of utilization hours is currently increased, it is estimated that the average annual utilization hour for the whole year should be around 5300 hours, which is a lot worse than the 2004 average of 6,000 hours. He said on Weibo, "The machine is now better than before. Try it hard and you shouldn't be short of electricity."
