The report stated that China will continue to lead the development of wind power in the world in the next five years. By the end of 2015, the cumulative capacity of wind power in China will reach 100 to 150 GW, and the amount of electricity generated will be 200 to 300 TWh. Among them, 3 to 5 GW of installed capacity at sea and 7.5 to 10 TWh of electricity are generated, accounting for about 3% of all installed wind power and 4% of electricity generation.
Despite the rapid development, the China Resources Comprehensive Utilization Association also stated that the difficulty in connecting and absorbing the Internet is the biggest obstacle to the development of renewable energy in China.
The report shows that China's wind farms are currently mainly distributed in areas far from the load center, and the power grid structure is relatively weak. The construction of power grids has certain restrictions on wind power development. In the centralized areas of wind power bases in northwest, north, and northeast China, wind power cannot be properly connected to the grid, which has become the biggest problem in the future development of wind power.
The China Resources Comprehensive Utilization Association's Renewable Energy Committee and Greenpeace jointly issued the “Windscape-China Wind Power Development Report 2011†on June 16, saying that from 2011 to 2015, the average annual increase in wind power in China will reach 15 to 20 GW. Among them, offshore wind power will increase by about 1 GW each year.
