From Hejiachi to Yifeng Mountain

Most Shaoxing people will not think of Hejiachi and the mine together.

Hejiachi is located 15 kilometers east of Shaoxing city. It is a famous lake in the millennium. According to the official website of Shaoxing Municipal Government, the name of "Hejiachi" is related to the poet He Zhizhang of the Tang Dynasty. Lu Xun's novel "Social Theatre" is written in the context of the customs of Hejiachi.

Hejiachi was once the second largest lake in Shaoxing, and its area gradually narrowed on the map, and it is on the verge of extinction. In November 2017, He Yuan and several local villagers reported to the environmental protection department that Hejiachi had problems such as dumping chemical sludge and construction waste. In February of this year, the Shaoxing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau replied that the third-party company tested all the 166 soil samples in the designated area of ​​the villagers. The results showed that “there were 14 samples in the pits of about 15 mu in the No. 4 area, and the samples exceeded the standard”. Some samples detected the carcinogen strontium (Be), which was 12 times higher than the standard.

In March of this year, He Yuan learned through investigation that the sediment dumped in Hejiachi came from Maosheng Concrete Co., Ltd. She chased all the way to Yifeng Mountain, about 6 kilometers away from Hejiachi.

There are two large stone mining enterprises and two concrete production enterprises on Yifeng Mountain, namely, Shangguan Danshan Stone Material Factory, Dongfa Building Materials Co., Ltd., Maosheng Concrete Co., Ltd. and Huaxin Concrete Co., Ltd.

Previously, the local government of Shaoxing had started to manage the mining area of ​​Yifeng Mountain. On September 27, 2017, the Zhejiang Provincial Hydrogeology Engineering Geology Brigade invited relevant experts to form a judging panel for the preparation of the Fourth Geological Brigade of Zhejiang Province and the Shaoxing Dongfa Inspection Material Co., Ltd. The geological environment protection and land reclamation plan for the construction of the stone mines in Yifeng Mountain, Yizheng County was reviewed.

According to the review materials in October 2017, the expert review opinion stated that “the mining activity has a serious impact on the geological environment impact assessment of the mine”, and based on the assessment results, “determine that the entire mine has been damaged and destroyed as a key prevention zone”.

"Atomic Mine" on Yifeng Mountain

There is a Zhangjiatun village under the Yifeng Mountain. Many elderly villagers have a clear memory of the history of mining.

Zhang Guofu, a villager in his 70s, said: "When I was a young man, someone came to explore Yifeng Mountain. I came twice, and I stayed in the village for 10 months for the second time, saying that there are things in the mountains that make atomic bombs."

Asked about "what is the thing that can make an atomic bomb", Zhang Guofu pondered for a moment and replied: "It is atomic uranium."

It is also the villagers’ answers that He Yuan’s eyes shifted from “铍” to “Uranium” on Yifeng Mountain.

Bei Qingshen once visited a number of geological exploration reports on Yifeng Mountain and found that the radioactive metal element uranium was indeed discovered in the Yifeng Mountain area, and the presence of uranium deposits was detected.

Uranium, an extremely rare radioactive metal element, has an average content of only 2 parts per million in the earth's crust, and is much less likely to form industrially exploitable deposits than other metallic elements.

Uranium ore containing uranium is a radioactive dangerous mineral known as the "rose" in the ore family.

As early as 1957, the Geophysical Exploration Brigade of Zhejiang Province had detected the radioactive anomaly of Yifeng Mountain and listed the area as a radioactive anomaly zone. “Two radioactive anomaly zones were circled in this area, numbered 116 and 121”.

The radioactive anomaly zone numbered 121 refers to the granite body of Yifeng Mountain in the mining area.

“In order to evaluate the prospects of uranium mineralization in various anomalous areas of Yifeng Mountain”, after nearly one year of exploration, the Ninth Geological Brigade of Zhejiang Province completed the “Preliminary Evaluation Report on the Uranium Mineralization Point of Shaoxing County, Zhejiang Province” in June 1984.

According to the report, "A total of 81 ground gamma anomalies were found through radiological surveys, which constitute two uranium water anomalies." However, due to the uneven distribution of these surface mineralizations and poor continuity, the report concluded that there is no industrially meaningful uranium ore body in the region.

After many years, Yifeng Mountain, which has not yet discovered an industrially meaningful uranium ore body, has become a legally exploited site for sand and gravel mining enterprises.

Dongfa Building Materials Factory

Can be mined, limited use

According to some data, “In order to meet the large demand for building materials in urbanization and infrastructure construction”, Shaoxing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources commissioned the “Zhejiang Non-ferrous Geology and Mineral Exploration Institute” in 2005 to conduct a general survey of stone mines in Yifeng Mountain. The mine is required to have an annual output of 1 million tons and serve for 20 years. The purpose is to use ordinary building materials.

The review of the census report has experienced a set of twists and turns.

Since the radioactive inspection was not carried out in accordance with the Technical Requirements for Mine Exploration, the exploration unit will return the report to the unit under review and request to do radioactivity testing.

The radioactivity test results show that the radioactive field test data greatly exceeds the limit of 5.2nc/kg•h as a building stone mine, and the maximum gamma exposure rate of a weathered layer profile is up to 7.75nc/kg•h. The highest value of the abandoned pit measurement point is as high as 14.5 nc/kg•h.

According to the "Technical Requirements for Exploration of Ordinary Building Stones and Minerals in Zhejiang Province" (2002), the exploration area can only work further or provide feasibility evaluation when the radioactivity does not exceed the limit.

The final review concluded that: “The total amount of radioactive gamma in the area exceeds the limit. It is not suitable for industrial buildings, civil building materials and decoration materials, but it can be used as a riprap and seawall and river embankment for reclamation. Slope protection masonry and deep foundation aggregate use."

According to this, the “Geological Report of the Yifengshan Building Stone Mine in Shaoxing County, Zhejiang Province” passed the assessment.

On March 29, 2005, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Land and Resources approved the “Opinions on the Review of Mineral Resources Reserves of the Yifeng Mountain Stone Mine” and agreed to record the mineral resources. As a result, sand and gravel mining companies were able to legally enter Yifeng Mountain.

A reporter from Beiqing Shen once found that in 2009, a real estate listed company in Shaoxing, Baoye Industrial, took the mining rights of Yifengshan Stone Mine and built a commercial concrete production plant in Yifengshan, which was later transferred to private operation.

Shaoxing Dongfa Building Materials Co., Ltd. is currently the only company that is still mining the Yifengshan ore. The ore is transported by Dongfa Building Materials Co., Ltd.'s 50-ton class transport vehicle to several concrete companies supplied by it.

The National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System shows that Shaoxing Dongfa Building Materials Co., Ltd. was established on July 7, 2009, and the mining license will expire on September 24, 2019. Its business scope is: mining granite for construction; rolling stone processing; wholesale, retail stone, pond residue, stone debris.

According to public information, the use of granite for construction mining by the company is clearly defined: it can only be used for other purposes such as roads and dams such as houses.

After being converted into gravel and concrete, the ore that has been used for limited use flows into the construction site of the construction site in Shaoxing city.

Radioactive stone flow to residential buildings

Beiqing Deep once found that until August 14, 2018, the stone mined from Shaoxing Dongfa Building Materials Co., Ltd. was still flowing through the concrete company to the residential building under construction.

The reporter learned from a staff member of Yangli Concrete Company in Shangyu District that the Yifeng Mountain Stone, which is mined and processed by Dongfa Building Materials Co., mainly supplies concrete plants near the mine. Yangli Concrete Company is one of them.

The staff said that Yangli Concrete Company received the stone supplied by Dongfa Building Materials Co., Ltd. every day. “There are 1,000 tons for a long time, and the average daily receiving amount is 600 to 700 tons when there are few.” These stone materials supplied by Dongfa Building Materials Co., Ltd. are processed into concrete materials that are transported to the built-up community in Shangyu District.

On August 14th, Beiqing Shen once followed the No. 18 concrete mixer truck of Yangli Concrete Company and came to the Wangu Yuefu Community, which is under construction in Shangyu District. It was observed that at 18:40 that night, a total of three 31-ton concrete mixer trucks entered the construction area of ​​Yueyufu.

According to the construction site staff, the concrete materials in the construction area are mainly supplied by two concrete companies, one of which is Yangli Concrete Company.

The concrete material was piped directly from the mixer truck to the floor under construction. According to the staff, these high-rise buildings were built at a speed of three days.

Compared with the terminal environment of the ore, the environmental radiation value in the Yifeng Mountain area is higher.

On August 1st, He Yuan and several environmental protection volunteers took measurements on the environmental radiation in the mining area of ​​Yifeng Mountain. Among the 7 sets of test data recorded, the lowest value is 0.37 microsieverts per hour, and the highest value reaches 1.49 microsieverts per hour. Among them, Shaoxing Dongfa Building Materials Co., Ltd. is in a mining area, and the detection value of several ores is 0.41. Micro Siver hourly. When the value exceeds the preset alarm value, the detector will illuminate red and a rapid "drip" sound will be emitted.

Many villages at the foot of Yifeng Mountain Mountain, because of the convenience of materials, many of the stones used in the past were from Yifeng Mountain.

He Yuan tested his home with a detector. The results showed that the indoor data was around 0.35 microsieverts per hour and the maximum reached 0.4 microsieverts per hour. For comparison, Heyuan also tested the residential houses of several villagers around. The indoor data of the lower data was less than 0.2 microsieverts per hour, while the higher data was 0.32-0.34 microsieverts per hour. .

Until now, the villagers in the Yifeng Mountain area still use the stone materials of Yifeng Mountain to cover the house. After testing, the radiation value of these stones is up to 0.39 microsievert per hour. In another stone from Shaoxing, the detection value is up to 0.08 microsievert per hour.

Beiqing Shen once took a spot check on the high-rise residential building in the vicinity of Yifeng Mountain and the east side of the Zhejiang East Canal named Jiangnan Jingyuan. The test result value reached 0.4 microsievert per hour.

After the Fukushima nuclear accident, the standard for residents in Japan to return to the pollution range set by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment is 0.23 microsievert per hour.

According to public information, severe radioactive contamination can even induce diseases such as tumors, leukemia and genetic disorders. A small amount of cumulative exposure can cause damage to the cardiovascular system, internal hemorrhoids system, and nervous system. The pathogenesis often lasts for decades.

At the foot of Yifeng Mountain, most of the villagers interviewed were not aware of the radiation pollution. They said that there is no relocation plan because “there is no obvious impact on the feelings, and there is no place to move anyway”.

On the 104 National Road in Shaoxing, you can observe on the side of the road. After 6 o'clock in the evening, the vehicles carrying the ore stones and concrete of Yifeng Mountain, one of them whizzing, are running in the direction of the city. .
